For a mere $3127.59, you can own a tent shaped like a London Underground carriage, which sleeps 16 and seats "around" 72 people.

London Underground Tube Tent (via Red Ferret)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Because why not commune with nature in an urban underground mass transit vehicle?

    • billstewart

What, like having a subway station in the middle of the desert?

That tent is definitely at London prices.

    • billstewart

It costs that much because of all the copyright licensing fees.  Just imagine what you’d need to pay if you wanted a London 2012 Olympic logo on the tent!

That is a very good rendering of a 1995 stock driving car built by Alstom with attention to detail, such as the cab door controls. In the rush hour I bet it even moves at the same speed.

I’d at least want it to be like one of the nice new Metropolitan Line trains.

Thanks a lot Cory, now Maggie’s going to make us get this tent.

     Mind the gap!

Is the overpowering scent of urine included?

tube?  carriage?  It’s English, but not as we know it…

    • jellyfishattack

Well, the English do speak what we must concede to be proper English.

Oh, please. The country that keeps pumping out neologisms like ‘yobbish’ and ‘shambolic’?

    Made in China.

Green Park…. This is Green Park.

  • jellyfishattack

A TARDIS tent would be neat….

    • billstewart

Especially because you’d have to implement the “bigger on the inside” feature using nylon and string…

  • adam72

i bet when you order it, it arrives late!
