The Snowden Principle

  • Donald Petersen

That’s either the chubbiest George Jetson or the slimmest Fred Flintstone I’ve ever seen.

  • kiptw

Had this tune going through my head since the first airing of the show. So I went and downloaded it from YouTube last year. If it’s not in this clip, “The Twitch” was a dance craze that started from the gyrations Fred went through when he ate pickled dodo eggs.

Don’t forget Jet Screamer doing “Eep! Opp! Ork! Ah Ah!” while you’re at it.

    • rrh

Between the Jetsons, Flinstones, and the Flintstones’ monstrous neighbours, The Gruesomes, they accidentally started dozens of Rock and Roll fads.

    • Ambiguity

Had this tune going through my head since the first airing of the show.

Exactly. So…I…refuse…to…click…on…link. That mind virus has already ripped too much time from my life.

Don’t forget Jet Screamer doing “Eep! Opp! Ork! Ah Ah!” while you’re at it.

Damn you to hell for that. I had managed to forget that one…

Rock is so much better than his brother Rick.

    • howaboutthisdangit

      Rock-rolling, now that’s old.

  • Robert Holmen

Network TV was still resisting Rock then.  Whenever “Rock” music made some appearance on a 60′s TV sitcom it was invariably caricatured as a three chord song with the most annoying electric guitar sound possible.  It seems like the old line Big Band musicians were still running the music decisions and they always took the opportunity ridicule this new “Rock and Roll” thing.

    • Boundegar

You may think that, but this song ain’t bad.

    • VibroCount

Mostly, but the Flintones also featured the Beau Brummels singing Laugh Laugh (not a three-chord song) in one episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIo-hIYPklU

  • BarBarSeven

So when will they reboot “Rock Roll” & show him as a dark, brooding, tortured artist with a drug and/or alcohol problem?

  • Wild Rumpus

Thanks, David – I had no idea would enjoy this clip as much as I did!

Links like this keeps the “boing” in Boingboing :)

A few years ago I was hired by Warner Bros. Online division to do this little edit of Flintstones clips to a cover of “Bedrock Twitch”.  Don’t know what band is doing the track:

Always loved the B-52s cover of this:

I hope that they were paid a lot for that.
