    Less workers means higher bonus’s for top management who endorse the sacking of lower menial workers. Woot for Dilbertism.

      And those ex-workers and family members, spend less on TV and solar panel which result in lower revenue for the company and slower economy…

      Japan is somewhat different in this regard. Management compensations aren’t outrageous in the first place and managers often feel responsible if their company doesn’t do well (record loss in Sharp’s case) and cut their own salary.

      Firing full-time employees is not something that is done lightly or is easy (legally) in Japan. Usually, if there’s no useful work a long-time employee can do he’ll still be there and just not do any useful work.
