<blockquote>No, there’s no aesthetic changes to the films. I’m not going back and doing to any of my movies that are now coming out on Blu-ray what I did when “E.T.” was reissued for the third time and I made some digital changes in the picture. I’m not doing that any more. I’ve resigned myself to accepting that what the film was at the time of its creation is what it always should be for future generations. I’m no longer a digital revisionist.</blockquote>Hooray!

Are you listening George?

I was curious, so I dug a bit into this and found a good article about how they bump up the resolution for IMAX movies filmed in 35mm. Turns out it's pretty fascinating: http://gizmodo.com/5250780/how-regular-movies-become-imax-films

For people looking for theatres showing it on the IMAX website, it's helpful to note that they've incorrectly listed it as "Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Or, in other words, "In the Latin alphabet, Raiders begins with an I!"

Steve-o, if you're reading this, for the record I certainly do not mind you doing a direct transfer and not changing a thing. I'll gladly lose a little resolution as long as Yoda hieroglyphics aren't added into a scene or something equally horrifying.

I want Temple of Doom, but I'm sure I speak for all happy mutants when I say please God no Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Unless we can somehow get MST3K involved with that disc.

I get the remastered sound, but what the fuck -- if you're going to put it on an IMAX screen, touch it the hell up so it's worth it. Blu-Ray too. Isn't it brain-numbingly stupid to take a grainy old 35mm print and blow it up to the 1000s of pixels of IMAX? "It looks like shit, but it looks like shit *IN HD!*"

You know, if they released a box set containing just Raiders and Crusade, I'm sure it would sell better.

They "fixed" that in the DVD set released a few years ago. I wonder if the fix is kept in place for this print and the bluray.

I bought the laser disc release of Raiders for my best friend years ago, you can indeed see that reflection. I like it because I like Harrison Ford and didn't want to see him get bit in the face by a cobra the way it is in the VHS version of the movie.

There's a scene where Indiana Jones falls down and a cobra pops up right in front of his face. The laser disc people boasted that the resolution was so perfect in their version that you could see the cobra reflected in the sheet of safety glass placed between it and the actor. I wonder if that will be visible in the IMAX version?

I sure hope he tweaks the scene where he shoots the swordsman and instead of shooting him, Indy throws a walkie-talkie at him...it worked for E.T.!!!!
