good point. perpetuating endless war, increasing secrecy and surveillance, enabling torture and indefinite detainment, threatening whistleblowers, and shutting down pot dispensaries is the best we can ask for from our “progressives” these days. we should be grateful.

Haha, yeah, that was surely the only other option to picking guys who wanted to let their friends off scot free while enriching them financially at the same time. The “Left” as you say, isn’t the problem, apologists like yourself are.

When he selected his cabinet, the economy had come to a standstill and was on the verge of imploding, an economy tied to the biggest bureaucracy in the Western world. Probably not.

But thanks for not actually addressing my point. This is the sort of sniping that has kept the Left constrained and wringing its hands for four years while idealogical zealots have expanded their power to every level of the govt, local, state, and federal. Worrying about Obama’s cabinet choices is really missing the point.

It’s not as if Clinton was a friend of the ‘Left’ or something. He was/is a neoliberal, and many of his accomplishments helped set the table for increasing slide into decline that we see more sharply now. Obama has basically tried to be Clinton, right down to recycling his advisers, including Rahm Emanuel of course, one of the architects in the slide of the party to the right. I don’t think The GOP forced Obama to fill his staff full of bankers, for example..

It’s been interesting watching the Left sit on it’s hands for four years while this administration has attempted to govern in the most poisonous atmosphere since the Civil War, and then only get off their collective asses when they have something to complain about. And as predictable as the sun rising in the East, turning around and getting all indignant yet adamant that they’re voting for him anyway.

Even with his negatives (which you’ve listed), Obama has accomplished more positives in four years than Clinton did in eight.
