    That’s fascinating, not only for the heroic poses and high level of detail, but also because I think it’s the first time I’ve seen Friedman do a straight-up portrait rather than a caricature; I’m so used to seeing him do unflattering caricatures (he has a particular talent for zeroing in on his subjects’ least flattering characteristic and bumping it up just a bit) that this is quite startling in its reverence.
