What a cool idea for an app - this certainly would make new keynote technology introduction speeches easier to bear.

But what a pity to have used that Clinton speech as an example. That man's speaking power lives in his pace and rhythm. He is calm in his excitement. He is measured in his urgency. he understands si-len-ces.

That app, bless its heart, makes him sound like a caffeinated hamster.

This is strange, but in some way Bill Clinton at 1.75 x sounds exactly like Boris Johnson:

Their hairdo isn't so different either...

For Audiobooks, I've long used RockBox on a Sansa Fuze. I always listen to audiobooks sped up to at least 125% normal speed. 150% is pretty common and I've gone as high as 200% depending on the reader.

It also allows independent control of pitch, which has been helpful in the past with readers with very low or very high pitched voices. I listen to audiobooks while cycling and if the pitch of the reader's voice is just wrong they can get drowned out in wind noise, so it's helpful to be able to tweak them up or down.

Watching this makes me feel like I've drunk too much coffee. It's like Paulstretch for video.

Is there a PC equivalent for people who don't hate themselves enough to be using a phone to watch videos?
