On September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET, Apple's big event kicks off. One never knows exactly what to expect, but all signs point to the iPhone 5 (or whatever they end up calling it). The revised smartphone is rumored to include a larger 4-inch screen, a smaller docking port, updated design, and iOS 6 (which in turn includes new features such as Facebook integration, and new Maps). For liveblog action, I'll be opening 5 browser tabs: GDGT, Verge, Gizmodo, Engadget, Ars.

    Revolutionary!

I know, right? A 4″ phone with LTE? Nobody ever thought of that. But that’s not all Tommy!!! A “smaller docking port” = your old peripherals no longer work and you have the privilege of buying new ones!

Strange, I thought the last model was perfect.

No, you’re wrong. This model is perfect, the last model has always been insufficient, and we’ve always been at war with Eastasia.

”To a smattering of applause” made me laugh.

LTE will be very nice if it turns out the latest-gen LTE baseband chips are low-lower enough that it’s the same battery life as the 4S. After using LTE on the iPad, AT&T’s existing network just feels… slow. :) We’re so spoiled, if I took a 3G iPhone 4S back in time to 1992, my young self would shit a brick.

SWERVE! It comes with windows CE.

Can’t wait to get that Facebook integration into my life.

Oh boy, me too! But to tell you the truth, they had me when they decided to change the ports AND allow me the privilege of paying for my personal tracking device that only supports apps from a Walled Garden!

  • dculberson

Thumbs down on the “smaller docking port.”  I have four generations of iDevice that still work fine and don’t want to have a different connector floating around.  Hopefully that part of the rumor is wrong.

Hahaha! Oh man, that is the one part that’s guaranteed. Don’t worry, you can pick up a bunch of adapters from the merciful ones at Apple.

I kinda wish the London based, Canadian escapee Cory was interested in Apple tech, purely so that he’d blog the start time using the king of timezones GMT ;-).

Just so you know, they’re going to release new macbooks today. How do I know? Easy, I paid the last installment on mine two hours ago.
