Photographer Shawn Clover makes composite photos of the devastating San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and the same locations in the present day. Clover created part 1 in 2010 and part 2 was just published. (via Colossal, thanks Koshi!)
These are wonderful! Love this sort of thing since I first saw Sergey’s historic blends. I started doing them too, mostly local Nebraska stuff but people have submitted stuff from California too :)
The office I’m sitting in right now was part of the bay before they filled it in with rubble from the quake. Not exactly the most reassuring idea.
These are fantastic. Unfortunately, a lot of my city of Christchurch currently looks like the before photos. Hopefully we’ll have the after photos one day to make our own collages.
