Charles Manson wrote Marilyn Manson a postcard from prison:

To Marilyn Manson – It’s taken me a long time to get there from where I could touch M. Manson. Now I got a card to play – you may look into my non-profit, ATWA, and give Manson what you think he’s got coming for Air, Trees, Water, and you. Or I will pay Manson what you think Manson got comeing – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil, and I’m SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. It’s a far out balence. Beyond good and bad, right, wrong. What you don’t do is what I will do – what you did a sang along, and let it roll and said how you saved me a lot of steeps – I don’t need, it’s not a need or a want. Couped – coup.   I know most cult rhetoric is nonsense, but it’s at least coherent. Please tell me Charlie could string together a sentence or two at one time in his life. I’d hate to think this baby-gibberish is all it took to convince a group of people to go on a killing spree with him, drugs or no drugs.

    The Beach Boys were good buds with him and Neil Young gave him a motorcycle.  He impressed a lot of impressive people, most of whom gave him credit for being able to write good songs off the top of his head.  And this is the Beach Boys and Neil Young giving calling them “good songs”.

    You can also compare to L. Ron Hubbard.  Every biographical detail I’ve heard about the guy makes me want to take a shower but he was clearly incredibly charming and persuasive.  Even Isaac Asimov had nothing but wonderful things to say about his memories of Hubbard from sci fi circles in NYC from the 50′s.

    Manson’s spent the last few decades in prison.  He was obviously crazy before prison, but I doubt a few decades in prison made him any less crazy.

  It’s a bit stream of conscious (well, ok, a lot), but to me the gist of it is that while Marilyn Manson plays at being evil and gets all the press now, Charlie is the real thing and everything Marilyn has is just a pale reflection of him.

  I’m not sure how much of Manson’s antics are because he’s genuinely nuts and how much is him playing the part of the crazy psycho so he can mess with people.

  I like that top reddit translation, but as others have said further down the reddit thread, I don’t think it’s as sunny as all that – CM is calling MM out a little, taking him to task on using his name. Taking an amalgam of the sunny translation and the dark translation, I think it paraphrases like this:
