"kongrorilla" created this nifty design for a Low-Poly Mask for Halloween 2012. Download it from Thingiverse and make your own.

Here's a blank canvas for the new you. Or your Halloween costume. Or maybe your audition for store mannequin. Or your general purpose anonymity needs.

Sometime in the future I hope to make a full head version, but I wanted to post what I've gotten done so far in case someone could use it for Halloween 2012. The original idea was to make a papercraft alternative for artists who can't afford the "planes of the head" plaster model, so keep your eyes peeled for further developments.

I'm going to make a mask with dark paper, and use glow-in-the-dark tape to highlight the edges - I'll be Wireframe Man!

I’ve made one up – looks a bit Mr. A to me.

Paint it silver and cover yourself in tinfoil and you could be Box from Logan’s Run. Creepiest robotic “helper” ever.

I like that when I went to double-check the quote, I type “protein from the sea”, and Google autocomplete offers “Fish Plankton and Protein from the Sea”.

I think I’m going to make one out of leather…

@Jaan – If you do, I’d love to see photos.

I’m going to fill the flat bits with Hubble photos and go as “Mr. Universe”.

damn all this is creepy, it reminds me of Vanilla Sky….

  • RCDavis

I printed and cut one out, but I can’t for the life of me make the lower half of the eye sockets attach properly – itt looks like the top of the cheek piece is at the wrong angle, yet it must be something I am still doing wrong…

    try again….

    • kongorilla

Yes, that’s perhaps the toughest part. It requires a bit of a twist. That’s why I wrote on the page to attach the little tab first, otherwise it’s very hard to make that connection. I’m sorry if the fun turns to frustration there.

It was quite a relief to start receiving pictures of finished masks from people. I was getting worried.
