No, really: Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. is really happening, and Ming-Na is in it!

Post-Avengers, assemble! Ming-Na, well-known for her work on ER, Stargate Universe, and as the voice of Mulan, has reportedly joined the cast of Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. show for ABC, which will also feature Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, who — surprise! — survived The Avengers. Ming-Na will play Agent Melinda May, a battle-scarred pilot and weapons expert, in the pilot episode that will be written by Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon, and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, all three of whom are responsible for writing Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The Hollywood Reporter also says that Joss Whedon will direct the episode if he can fit it into his schedule. Considering how Joss Whedon can find ways to squeeze entire movies into his schedule while shooting other movies, I have a feeling he'll probably do it.

But I think the biggest news coming out of this story is that this show — at least its pilot — is really, actually coming together! With real live actors in it!
