Rob sez, "Hugo award winner Seanan McGuire (author of the Toby Daye, Newsflesh, and Incryptid series) is trying something new: her latest book Velveteen vs the Junior Super Patriots started life serialized on her LiveJournal and she's still writing more there, but due to fan demand she struck a deal with a small press to do a hardcover collecting the first few stories."

WHEN WILL YOU RISE and VELVETEEN VS. available now!

When Will You Rise: Stories to End the World

(Thanks, Rob!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The post seems a bit turned around – Velveteen vs. is the hardcover that collects, well, the Velveteen vs. series…the link, though, goes to When Will You Rise, which is also a hardcover collection of short stories, but is set in the Newsflesh verse. (Someone buying WWYR and expecting Velveteen, which is how the article reads, would be, um, surprised.)

The “serialized on livejournal” link is also missing a period at the end, and thus 404.

The link that seems to be to purchase Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots goes to the Amazon page for When Will You Rise.  Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots is available from Amazon or directly from ISFiC Press at http://www.isficpress.com/velveteen.php

And a second volume of the Velveteen stories will be available in August 2013…
