    This is the second time in as many weeks that I’ve seen Boing Boing (of all places!) promoting for-profit CD releases of orphaned/abandoned musical IP from the mid-twentieth century that is freely available from the internet. Why should Jazzman Records get 100% of the profits from music they had no hand in creating? Do you really think they’re paying even so much as mechanical rights to ASCAP/BMI on a recording like this? Everyone involved in making this record is dead, the original production companies and producers no longer exist.

    Yeah, there was a time 15 or 20 years ago I would grudgingly buy greymarket box sets in order to get my hands on certain music or movies, but that ship has sailed. You don’t promote badly formatted Lulu editions of Gutenberg.org scans; why do you do this?
