  No they’re not, but the dietary laws only restrict what you can eat, other uses are mostly fine- though some religious items must be made from kosher animals. Also, it’s just a depiction- a lot of menorahs have lions on them, and lions also aren’t kosher.
  
  The question is, are mosasaurs kosher? After all, they live in the sea and have scales…

If you’re gonna go really old school with your menorah you should also follow the tradition of rabbi Shammai, who said all candles should be lit on the first night and then extinguished over each succeeding night, to represent the gradually diminishing oil.

    Yeah. There was a lot of debate between Shammai and Hillel about how the candles should be lit. Shammai went with the more literal interpretation while Hillel went the more poetic route, with the increasing light symbolizing growing hope.
    
    I kind of like Shammai’s idea, but I see why Hillel won out.
