For those who don’t know, the guy wielding the foam hammer in the computer video is Gary Kildall. Gary wrote CP/M, the most famous DOS of the eight-bit world, a precursor to the IBM PC’s DOS.

I wasn’t sure what the music (it sounded like a Burton film soundtrack) was for the Insect’s Christmas video was. So I tried tagging it using Shazam. After several samples (at different points in time) Shazam insisted the music was the score for the 1961 film Goodbye Again. Eventually I saw the description on YouTube crediting Danny Elfman’s score from Edward Scissor hand. I listend to the score from the 1961 film Goodbye Again and realized they are very similar. Is there a link between these two scores?

Forgive my ignorance, but can you point out where ‘The Shanty where Santy Clause lives’ is racist?
Does it have to do with a white baby falling in a bucket of coal soot becoming black?
    Why is this racist?

Perhaps it’s the stereotype that everyone who is black shouts “Mammy!”  That’s got to be one of the most tiresome cartoon gags of the 30′s. EVERYONE was doing it.

Or maybe it’s the “Sambo Jazz Band” or the black Pickaninny dolls.  Incidentally I’ve read that a “sambo” is someone who is 3/4 black, as opposed to a “mulatto”  (1/2) or a “quadroon” (1/4). Everyone had to be labeled back then.
