Check out this amazing reel of Paul Frees trying out different narration choices for the Disneyland Haunted Mansion. It comes from the excellent (and out of print) Haunted Mansion Original Soundtrack, which I am a proud owner of. Neener.

The Genius of Paul Frees

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

There’s a scene in Patton, Patton on his horse taking questions, where at least 3 of the voices talking to Patton are all Paul….

Pretty awesome that he worked the Boris Badenov and Boo-Berry /  Peter Lorre voices in there. :)

For fans of this, I recommend SubsonicRadio.com, which has several online “radio” stations of theme park/resorts ambient music.  Including requests and no-vocals-background music, as well as dedicated stations/loops for the holidays, Living Seas, Soarin over California, Dole Whip, etc.  (I recommend Wilderness Lodge, Illuminations, and Flame Tree BBQ.)

Also, this documentary is great, talks about BTS audio design at the parks:

“We know a remote mansion in New Orleans Square, where Mr. Gracey lived. Every July, peas grow there.”
