What strikes me the most about this report is the number of leaks that happen on or near the public release date and the source of the leaks. It has been a long time since I have been in a room with some of the source equipment that is sited in the document, but I recall that they were no where near consumer grade. They shouldn't blame the pirates for sinking the ship, without plugging their own holes first.

Yep. If we could make eating as efficient as stealing a hot dog from 7-11, no one would need to work for a living!

If only studios and distributors figured out how to push content as cleanly and easily as "piraters".... sigh...

Definitely watched a movie recently online that was leaked similarly. Every 20 minutes or so, there was a line of text superimposed across the top of the screen saying something like "For award consideration only - do not reproduce". That's just a paraphrase, I don't remember the exact wording, but it was clear that it was distributes to a voter for screening. May not have been for the Academy Awards, either.
Wow, this was really helpful of me, no?

What I learned is that all the negative numbers in the US release to first leak column proves something about Hollywood's insistence on going after consumes to stop movie piracy.

lotta work to get a leak out to the masses. a quote from group that has a release of The Hobbit screener:

"As you imagine it took some time, loads of security in it, days of work i can tell you, all for the security of the source.

Firstly there were watermarks, starting with small numbers counting from 0 to 9 randomly hardcoded in the video, and that during the whole movie, popping up mainly in the centre eye of the video half lucent.

some kind of weird code for identifying dont know, cant blur them only when they appear, would be around 300.000 of them so made small constant blur spots over the 20 spots where they randomly appear, now they are gone, wont effect the viewing

hardly seeable unless you are searching for it on purpose.

second watermark is a long line also hardcoded in the video with exact details of owner, had to blur that parts only when they appear none of this line watermark appears twice on the same spot, so had to blur each one manually and adjust them.

that was a pita, 720 cuts were necessary to remove them, some are above, below left or right, not that much are in the center of viewing, but some are, and if its daylight you will see them slightly, only appear 10sec each time there is no other way to get it anymore secure."
