I saw some of these machines at a Free Software day event some years ago. They are nice looking machines and I am sorry they were not more widely available.
It could be said that one of OLPCs greatest achievements was the mainstream introduction of netbook computers based on the original model. Asus brought out the first Eee-pc netbook as a OLPC derivative for kids in developed countries.
I just thought they’d stand out against Nigeria’s general palette.
I for one am very grateful for the rise in computer availability in Nigeria. If that had not been the case I would not now be awaiting the deposit of a six million dollar cheque from that very country into my own bank account!
