Steven Soderbergh has a new movie out, and he's on Twitter

Director Steven Soderbergh has a new sci/psy thriller out next week: Side Effects, starring Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Psychiatrist Dr. Sasha Bardey served as medical consultant, along with CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The film examimes psychopharmacology and the use of mood altering drugs.

From a blurb shared with us by the publicist:

In the film, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones play leading psychiatrists who are attempting to nurture a depressed patient back to a normal, healthy and active life style. However, the results prove unpredictable and dangerous.

Vulture did a wide-ranging interview with Soderbergh recently. In it, he mentions having a "stealth" Twitter account. That account has recently been outed (and confirmed) as Bitchuation. I interviewed Mr. Bitchuation for Wired many years ago.

  I wonder if it will incorporate his groundbreaking, cerebral, infinitely complex method of tinting scenes blue or gold.  My God, how does he come up with ideas like that?  He should be using this wunderkind power to cure space lupus or something, not wasting it on mere cinematic perfection like Ocean’s 11 through 13.

  Ah, yes, the man who argued before the United States Congress, apparently without a hint of irony, that he should be deputized with the power break the internet because he was convinced his 4 hour biopic Che only grossed half its budget due to piracy – his millionaire victim complex assures him that there’s no way it could have been because of absentee marketing and popular disinterest – and his cachet in Hollywood is more important than the freedoms of speech, knowledge, due process and public access for those without bottomless pockets for lawyers fees.

  Thanks, but I’ll be skipping what looks like it might be a sensationalist hit piece against mental illness and psychiatry. He can take SOPA and shove it up where his hypocritical ego is stuck.

  I only exercised restraint in this comment because I actually kinda liked Che, even though it was two-hours too long.
