From the minute I heard about his car accident, I suspected foul play. How is it that a virtuoso rapper gets into an eject-the-driver-from-the-car wreck, and his only injury is permanent damage to his throat? I always thought it was a drunk argument with some of those shady fake thugs that went too far, and someone kicked him in the windpipe.

Such a shame. No one can do it better. His whole mystique was a wonderfully refreshing addition to the west coast genre. It ended as abruptly as it arrived. D.O.C. had a sense of the artistic presence of his talent in his music, videos, and photographic artifacts that set him apart from the rest of the Ruthless Records roster and put him way up top on the west coast music from that timeframe. The single shot of him in front of the "Lord of Lords, King of Kings" status says it all.

Needless to say, I can't wait for the Brain Rot documentary. You go.

Me too. I remember exactly when that album came out. At an NWA concert a few months earlier at the Philadelphia Spectrum, they were throwing flyers from the rafters saying "The D.O.C. is coming". My skater friends and I had the NWA and Eazy albums on a permanent loop, but the D.O.C. record blew them both away.

They said it was all about knowledge. Now I feel like like I got most of it all. Dre, drop it.
