Like Martin Luther King said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards conners getting conned.”

I’m still kicking myself for not picking up some counterfeit ones when I had the chance. I mean, sure the probably sounded like shit*, but I could of told the world “HEY MUG THIS IDIOT”

*just like the real ones! hoo hoo

They sell these at every street corner in Thailand, Malaysia, China and Indonesia . From US$20 to US$50.

No one even looks at them anymore, just really oversaturated.

    • I have those: great for the price but uncomfortable. Also very flat–a good thing, but won’t please the bass boost-loving Dre types

I find them comfortable, I wear them for ~4 hours per day at work.  The only issue I have with them is that they are an open speaker design, so the sound is not isolated to you.  You can hear everything going on around you.  Nice in a office when someone asks you a question, less nice on the bus when you are trying to ignore everything.

I typically go with Sony’s in a similar price range, not as good looking but I’ve always found them comfortable. Sound good enough to be used in most of the audio labs/studios I’ve worked in.

Predatory snake oil salesman gets stiffed by guy who engineered some of the worst sounding records of all time. Oh the irony.

In the past there were lots of stories of Monster pursuing overreaching trademark cases in obnoxious ways.

Now we read that they negotiated a terribly unfavorable arrangement with the Beats people.

Is it just me or is the lesson here that Monster needs better quality lawyers?

Mmmmm…. That’s a fine glass of schadenfreude there.

I make it a rule to never buy anything that is named for a celebrity I don’t know personally.

  9. I don’t like how the article spins Monster as some folksy mom and pops operation that got swindled. Would have been more accurate to present the story of a scam artist company that gets what it deserves
