Chelsea Wolfe: Flatlands

Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe performs "Flatlands," from her acoustic album "Unknown Rooms" (Sargent House). Video directed by Charlene Bagcal, a Converse x Decibel-sponsored project.

I saw Wolfe perform a few days ago here in Los Angeles, and was totally blown away.

If you have a chance to see her live, you must. Emmett Shoemaker at LA Weekly has a review of the performance here. GrimyGoods has more photos from the recent LA show.

Don't miss this video from our friend Richard Metzger's Dangerous Minds acoustic session with Chelsea Wolfe at last year's SXSW. Chilling.

And for those who want to know what she sounds like without clicking "play," I can do no better than Metzger's description:

Los Angeles-based Chelsea Wolfe's intense, artful folk dirges bring to mind a slightly morbid young Joni Mitchell had she grown up listening to Black Metal bands instead of the Carter Family (Still, when asked about her influences Wolfe simply replied "Hank Williams").
