This is why I’m not a fun drunk — my idea of a good joke would have been to call in my cigarette order to 7-Eleven.
“You’re a public servant, aren’t you? Get me a glass of water!”
“…because I pay your salary!”
What intrigues me about this is that there are still people who have such a benevolent image of police to think of them when they need someone to do them an actual favor.
This is actually a rampant problem in the emergency care field. People will actually regularly call 911 and tell them they’re having chest pains, then emergency crews have to respond. They show up and do a quick check on the person, who checks out to be fine, but then requests that the paramedic go upstairs and bring them their cigarettes, or something like that.
The unfortunate thing is that it’s often morbidly obese or disabled people who have no one to care for them.
They should just defibrillate them anyway. It’s the only way to be sure.
