I live in VT.   I would put California much higher on the tolerance scale than NH or VT, and many parts of CA aren't all that tolerant.  It's a very subtle thing that is hard to pick up on unless you've lived elsewhere.  I would say that the UV is *not* all that tolerant.  Perhaps in a basic way, but dig down a little past the smile at the grocery store, and it seethes.
