Why is the only successful "Batman" in England?

Is this another situation where the US of A's educational system has left us behind?

I must protest. OK, it's not the most beauteous city in the world, but Bradford is the home of the National Media Museum (formerly the Museum of Photography, Film and Television, site of the first IMAX in Britain) and part of the national Science Museum Group.

It's also the location of the world's oldest (continuously-operating pub-based) folk club, The Topic, which has been going weekly (barring some weeks off for Xmas and New Year) since before the Suez Crisis (1956); I look after the website.

For sf types, Eastercon 2013 (Eight Squared Con) is in Bradford this year. Finally, there's good walking countryside not far out of town.

Also finally, Bradford is Britain's Curry Capital winner for 2012. Yay!

I see Wells is also on the Telegraph's list… that's a few miles from where I live and is a perfectly innocuous little town that is a city due to its well-regarded cathedral... it has surrounding fine old buildings, nestles up against the Mendip Hills and is only a few miles from the legendary Glastonbury Festival. One problem for Wells is that it doesn't have a railway station.

Anyway, it's fine for locals. Edgar Wright is from Wells, and shot Hot Fuzz in its streets and shops.

I'd love to know how he was able to force the suspect to accompany him to the police station without a weapon. Either that pudgy dude has some mad ninja skills or the thief was sick of running and went along quietly.

It's 2013. Nine year olds have phone cameras that take highres 8MP stills.

So why is it that CCTV camera stills always look like they were shot with a 1963 Kodak Instamatic?

Instead, he should have made the trip to Keswick to visit the Pencil Museum, and toured the town's many wonderful shops afterwards (they seem to be split evenly into cafés, outdoor shops and women's clothing - the perfect shopping day for any couple).
