"Queen Bee" is a new painting by Mark Ryden that will be sold in a benefit auction for the World Wildlife Fund. Magnificent. (via Arrested Motion)

So  does he carve his own frames, have someone else do it, or are they 3D printed? I mean, this one’s fairly intricate.

About 13 years ago I remember reading he had them custom carved in Thailand. Not sure if he still does that or not.  Unfortunately 13 years later and Ryden hasnt seemed to have developed much as an artist and is still churning out the same ol boring imagery.

Yeah, well, on the topic of evolution, Rauschenberg wasn’t all that interesting in the 90s, after all.

He works with wood carvers for his frames according to a video I watched.  His work is still mesmerizing.
