National Geographic has launched an excellent Tumblr of archived photos, called National Geographic Found. No, the above photo isn't from last year's Folsom Street Fair but rather a 1966 shot of some gents in London. (Photo by James P. Blair.)

    You gotta love them Leatherboys.

  • Marko Serafinowicz

What on earth is the “Folsom Street Fair,” why on earth should anyone know what that cryptic statement means, and what does that have to do with leather boys in London?

Why don’t you do a Google Image Search with SafeSearch disabled?

      • Marko Serafinowicz

I’ve got a better idea: why not use references that people actually know about?

        • Antinous / Moderator

The Folsom Street Fair is one of the largest festivals in North America and has been for decades. Why not broaden your horizons instead of asking the Boingers to tailor their posts to the lowest common denominator?

        • tfd2

you mean references that _you_ know about? i’m guessing quite a few people do know what it means.  lrn2google.

The quality and texture of this and many other images in the link do not at ALL seem proper for photographs of their age. Were they cleaned up after scanning?

I dunno, man. I’ve paged through old NGs and they look like that. Larger format film.

The Tumblr site appears to have been shitcanned by Tumblr. Perhaps it wasn’t so official?

      It’s working for me.
