NewImageMy favorite contemporary sculptor, Ron Mueck, has a new show of his huge hyperreal sculptures opening at Paris's Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain on April 16. Before moving into fine art, Mueck was a puppeteer and model maker for TV and films such as The Storyteller and Labyrinth. In fact, he was the voice of Ludo in that film! they’re so more real than reality that reality appears as hyporeal

I love his work.  His sculptures are so terrifying when you see them in person.

Ron’s an amazing artist in every respect. I haven’t seen him in years but we worked together on Labyrinth and he was always a shining gem of creativity, technical ability and vision. It’s a joy to see these works pictorially but even more so when regarded physically. Head explodingly good.

These look amazing. His work reminds me of Evan Penny’s, or vice versa.

    Ludo friend!

I wonder: I’ve seen many of his sculptures some four years ago in Shawinigan, Canada of all places. The impact, there’s no other word, they made on me was so immediate and strong, the thoughts they suggested were so clear! Contrary to much art today, well most of it really, it felt as if the essence of each piece, its meaning, its emotional charge just jumped at me and couldn’t be anything else.

    Unbelievably realistic!
