This exquisitely-illustrated styrofoam cup is reportedly the work of an artist named William Hersey. More photos. (via Reddit)
I wasn’t aware that the artist had been confirmed. Is there any proof available or perhaps a link to some of his other work?
Not that I’ve found. That’s why I said “reportedly.” Happy to post an update once there is one.
You were correct, here is a picture he posted to FB:
Hey there ~ I’m the Redditor SquishyMcPhee ~ I took the photos.
I have already reached out to him to do an AMA, but if you’d like I could also hit him up for an interview. Come to find out, he lives just a couple of miles from me.
If he did that on company time, he’s toast.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheeming_Boey THIS guy’s stuff is SO much more tasteful…
BTW Boey is also an illustrator and is soon closing his 2nd kickstartr project for a second book.
I agree that Boey is a truly fantastic artist. As you’ve likely already noted to yourself, however, you’ve seen one of the almost 2,000 cups that the other artist has produced. Add to that the fact that Boey is a studio artist and the cup in the article was done in a car dealership waiting room, and it,amenities a little more impressive, would you not agree?
Besides, it’s not really a contest, right? = )
