What the Mounties pirate

Travis sez, "The Pirate Party of Canada has uncovered that IP addresses from within the RCMP and Industry Canada are used to download copyrighted material. The point here isn't that they are downloading, it's that because all we have are IP addresses we don't know who is actually doing the downloading."

  1. Canada is working on allowing rightholders to do the copyright shakedown in Canada with just this same evidence, I say game on and if they won’t pursue these scofflaws hiding inside the government, they have no business pursuing people.
The law and officials are supposed to be held to a higher standard and show us the right way.

In other news I think I broke my tailbone laughing my ass out of the chair…

    1. You don’t think they’ll pick and choose their targets, do you? Of course not, the law is blind, respecting no man!

      1. They would NEVER remove LEO’s, Mayors, etc. from the lists for fear that they would bring all sorts of bad down upon them… that’s just reality talk!

  2. Well, the responsible party is the one who owns the account.  Since the mounties are a federal organisation, that would either be the Minister of Public Safety or the Prime Minister.

    1.  I’m so, so sorry, we didn’t Know! Can you ever forgive us? We’ve already sent you Hugh Jackman as tribute

      1. I thought Jackman was part compensation for Russel Crowe.  Even so, I keep apologising anyway.

        1. In that case, we’re going to need a couple dozen more Jackmen to balance that account.

        2. I keep apologising anyway.

Little-known fact, this, right here, is why the default Canadian response to anything unexpected is “I’m sorry,” and also a number of other response categories.

      1. …Unless they’re downloading these for use as psyops material to break detainees’ will to live?
