    I don’t think I would have published The Left Hand of Darkness either.  It is not a likeable book at all.

    I might say the same thing about The War of the Worlds, but the literary landscape was so different a hundred years ago as to defy all comparison.

    The Left Hand of Darkness is a masterpiece — umm… and highly readable for those who like thought-provoking social science fiction.
