    I didn’t grow up reading superhero comics. I discovered “indie” comics in high school, in dusty corners of dingy comic book shops full of stereotypical fanboys and geeks. The joy of discovering a vibrant art form that no one else knows about is something I will always be thankful for, and something nigh-impossible in today’s age. Fantagraphics was an integral part of that, and Kim was an integral part of them. Though my tastes are probably more in line with Groth’s, I have Kim to thank for introducing me to Stan Sakai, Louis Trondheim, and European comics in general. That’s a BIG thank you to Mr. Thompson.

    I hope he’s hanging out with Hergé in the ether now.
