Long one of my favorite places to see some of the funniest people around, the Fanatic Salon has made LAist's Best Open Mics in Los Angeles. "BEST PLACE TO WORKSHOP YOUR MATERIAL (FANATIC SALON): More support group than traditional bar mic, Fanatic Salon in Culver City is where to go when you want meaningful and insightful feedback. Performers are charged a $5 fee for seven minutes of stage time, followed by optional feedback from the audience and organizers. BYOB is allowed, and coffee is usually provided. Spectators are allowed in for free. Signups begin at 7 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, and the mic itself begins at 7:30 p.m. Join their Facebook group to keep up with updates."
