Greenpeace activists protesting Arctic oil drilling charged by Russia with piracy

A cameraphone image from Greenpeace shows Russian security forces boarding the Arctic Sunrise.

"Fourteen Greenpeace activists, including at least four from the UK, have been charged with piracy by the Russian authorities. They were among a 30-strong crew on a Greenpeace ship that was protesting against oil drilling in the Arctic," reports BBC News. Russian President Vladimir Putin said previously they were "not pirates", though they may have broken international law.
