Do wiggly road markings calm Scottish drivers?

Today in Betteridge's Law of Headlines, Scots are angered by an effort to slow traffic in their village by painting irregular road markings.

"In common with many residents, I find the wiggly lines to be not only ineffective but also look stupid," said local councillor Ian Muirhead. "The idea is that people see the wobbly lines and assume it's going to be a bumpy road … it just looks like the lines were painted by a drunken road worker." [Daily Record]
