Cuddling foes on the city of Madison, Wisconsin's payroll have smothered the Snuggle House to death.
The Snuggle House buckled under pressure from police (who threatened undercover sting operations) and other city officials who think the new business is actually a front for prostitution.
"No offense to men, but I don't know any man who wants to just snuggle," says assistant city attorney Jennifer Zilavy.
Yet, like most cities, Madison is home to plenty of businesses that offer massages, intimate waxing, and other services where clients are far less clothed than during a snuggle session.
And the cuddle controversy hit in the midst of a growing statewide human trafficking problem, a crime that often involves forced sex and where victims are often children. Madison PD boasts about conducting sting operations to bust adults engaged in various kinds of consensual acts. Maybe it's time to leave the consenting adults alone and go bust more sex trafficking rings?
