Teen listening to loud music doesn't hear tornado that literally blew over him

rwiWyatt Schrepfer of Trinidad, Colorado, did not notice when a tornado snuck up on him, because he was playing loud music while mowing weeds on a tractor in his parents' driveway. "I had my headphones on," said Schrepfer, 18.

KRDO-TV, Colorado interviewed him here.

"It was coming in on my over my left shoulder so I didn't really see it."

"The hood of the tractor blew up and when I stood up to pull it back down, my hat flew off in the direction of the tornado, so I turned and saw it. My first reaction was to take cover."

The National Weather Service rated the tornado as an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale–capable of producing winds of up to 110 miles per hour. One indication of its strength: broken power poles in the area.
