FDA approves robotic exoskeleton for paraplegics

The FDA has approved Rewalk Robotics' personal exoskeleton for personal use by paraplegics.

The robotic exoskelton integrates a brace and sensor network and mimics the natural gait of people with functional legs, powering hip and knee movements. Rewalk's inventor, Dr. Amit Goffer, became a paraplegic after an ATV accident. The FDA had never approved an exoskeleton before, and had to create a new evaluation process for Rewalk.
