UK cinemas ban Google Glass from screenings

UK cinema exhibitors — which already makes a practice of recklessly confiscating mobile phones full of sensitive, unprotected data during preview screenings — have announced that it will not allow Google Glass wearers into cinemas, lest they commit an act of piracy (Glass has a 45 minute battery life when in recording mode).

This kind of stupidity can't last. Give it five years and you'll see a challenge from someone with a visual impairment who relies on Glass or something like it, who'll object strenuously to the idea that an assistive device that mitigates their disability should be confiscated as part of a security theatre (or security cinema) exercise.
