Drone's-eye view of fireworks goes bonkers viral, spawns internet freakout

This video of July 4 fireworks shot by a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter outfitted with a GoPro Hero 3 silver went bonkers viral over the Independence Day weekend.

More than 6 million views in the first couple of days after Jos Stiglingh posted it to YouTube.

"The quad was not damaged," he explains.

The fireworks display was at West Palm Beach, Florida.

Gorgeous though it may be, there is some controversy over the legality and safety of what Stiglingh did.

Miles O'Brien shared this with me, and says, "I'm still confused as to why people are okay with standing beneath exploding firebombs but throw a little drone into the mix and everyone freaks out and goes all Chicken Little."

I'm more upset about having to listen to "Con Te Partirò" by Andrea Bocelli for the umptybillionth time.
