Kickstarting Stuff and Nonsense, a steampunk card-game from Cheapass & Prof Elemental

Cheapass Games went all the way to England for our next game: 'Stuff and Nonsense', a card game about telling wild tales of imaginary adventure; We had a great time working with the talented Professor Elemental, known for his whimsical steampunk and chap hop music."

"As usual, we're running a Kickstarter for this game. We got our baseline funding in hand by the second day, and now we're working our way up towards our goal of bringing back another Cheapass classic, 'Give Me the Brain'. The campaign runs through September 30th."

Cheapass are a treasure, the kinds of game-makers who are always about the most fun for the least dough. $5 gets you a PDF of the game to print and play; $30 gets you the finished game. There's a free, playable beta you can try out before you pledge, too.

Stuff and Nonsense is an adventure game with no real adventuring. Players sneak through the back streets of London, gathering evidence of their imaginary travels, and then stride into the Adventurer's Club to spin tall tales and earn the admiration of their unsuspecting peers.

You all stole this idea from Professor Elemental, who recently pretended to travel to the South Pole. But you know that he actually had a quiet holiday at home. Since you stole his act, the Professor is now your sworn enemy, chasing you around town in the hopes of catching you at it.

Stuff and Nonsense feels like a board game, although it uses only cards. Players move around the outskirts of London, collecting things like Artifacts, Photographs, Facts, and Specimens. When you have enough stuff, you can return to the Adventurer's Club, to tell your stories and trade those cards for points.

You'll need a little strategy to make the most points in the fewest moves, and to manage your risk of running into the Professor! The game handles 2 to 6 players comfortably, ages 12 and up, and takes about 60 minutes.
