Changing guitar strings has always been a comedy of errors, for me. Not so with this cheap guitar string changer.
As always, having the right tool for a job makes all the difference. I've seen tools like this one by Planet Waves on the counter at almost every guitar shop I'd visited. I skipped buying one because I've been trained to think small, plastic-y bits put next to the register are impulse buys and typically just junk. Boy, was I wrong.
This handy tool has clippers for cutting strings, a multi-sized socket for different tuning peg styles, and a grabber for acoustic bridge pins. All three of the things that deter me from changing strings are remedied. The string winder has turned 20-30 frustrating minutes into 5-10 simple minutes. I also worry a lot less about scratching the bridge on my Martins when removing the bridge pins, they always seem to want to stick.
