I had not run into this sort of The Thing meets Something Wicked This Way Comes story in a long, long time. Evan Bollinger's Marin's Dale was a welcome surprise. The inhabitants, the surviving ones any ways, of a small town have to fight to survive and odder and odder things happen to the landscape, animals and people around them.
Bollinger does a great job with the genre and characters. It is an indie novel and those sensitive to occasionally poor editing should consider themselves forewarned. The story is $0.99 on Kindle and free on Kindle Unlimited.
