Activist DeRay McKesson masterfully shuts down Wolf Blitzer

DeRay McKesson has been a crucial voice in the Black Lives Matter movement

, and he was invited to speak with CNN's Wolf Blitzer about the current protests in Baltimore. Although Blitzer clearly wants to steer the conversation towards the acts of violence and looting that have occasionally occurred alongside peaceful protests, McKesson masterfully keeps the focus on the larger issue: police brutality.

"144 vehicle fires…15 structure fires. There's no excuse for that kind of violence, right?" Blitzer asks at one point.

"There's no excuse for the seven people that the Baltimore Police Department has killed in the last year either, right?" McKesson responds.

McKesson goes on to say, "You are suggesting this idea that broken windows are worse than broken spines.. Freddie Gray will never be back. And those windows will be."
