Book review: Wizard Defiant, a fun blend of tech and fantasy

Wizard Defiant (Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles Book 1)

In Rodney Hartman's Wizard Defiant, space cadet boot camp meets elves and wizards.

There was just no way I could resist downloading a the first book in a series entitled the "Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles," and I wasn't disappointed. Ever wonder what it'd be like if Heinlein's Starship Troopers fell into Christopher Stasheff's The Warlock Inspite of Himself? This book is it. It is as if someone put chocolate in my peanut butter.

Richard is recruited to become of the the elite Wizard Scouts, but he'll have to make it through basic training first. With smarmy AI in his battle armor, and a magical elf priestess to help him out, our young wizard still manages to screw up a lot. Rodney Hartman has blended some of my favorite science fiction and fantasy elements in this novel, and I'm looking forward to seeing him grow it.

Wizard Defiant was a fast, fun read. I found it via Kindle Unlimited.
