For just under $4 million you can live in Frank Sinatra's Villa Maggio, a five acre home on a mountain above California's Palm Desert.

From the real estate listing:

A private, gated road leads up to the estate Frank Sinatra owned and considered his personal sanctuary for twelve years. Christened "Villa Maggio" as a tribute to the character he portrayed in the blockbuster film From Here to Eternity, for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor – Sinatra commissioned architect, Ross Patton, in 1967 to custom-design his retreat for privacy, as well as for entertaining. This was where Sinatra hosted other members of the Rat Pack, as well as other celebrities and dignitaries.

Frank Sinatra chose the granite mountain plateau above Palm Desert as the ideal locale for his hideout, not only for its breathtaking views of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, but also because the 4,300 foot elevation offers year-round temperatures that are at least twenty degrees cooler than the desert floor below. The compound, nestled on five secluded acres, consists of three buildings: a five-bedroom Main House, a three-bedroom Guest House, and dual-sauna Pool House. Sinatra spared no expense in having all the comforts at his custom-built home: a lighted pool and spa, lighted tennis/basketball court, a fire pit, and the ultimate amenity – a private, lighted helipad, which made it convenient to shuttle his guests by helicopter to and from his property and Palm Springs International Airport (only twenty-six miles away). The property also allows parking for up to twenty-four cars.

The Main House is a rustic, mid-century lodge composed of wood and native stone. It consists of five bedrooms, five and a half baths, a formal dining room, living room, family den, and two full kitchens. There are five stone fireplaces, multiple viewing decks, and hardwood floors throughout. The two-story Guest House is virtually self-sufficient with its own generator, water tower, and water well. The layout features three distinct, separate suites – each with its own mini-kitchen, bath, stone fireplace, and viewing deck. The Pool House is composed of a Great Room with stone fireplace, two bathrooms, mini-kitchen, two saunas and a large entertainment patio with fire pit.
