Watch 'Documentary Now' tear VICE a new one

Documentary Now! is a hilarious sendup of the documentary genre by SNL alumni, and IFC has released the second episode DRONEZ: The Hunt for El Chingon, a parody of the always mockable VICE sensationalism.

In July, Outfest screened episode one, a darkly comedic homage to Grey Gardens called "Sandy Passage." It's worth watching just for the cameo by Helen Mirren. Produced by Seth Meyers and starring Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, upcoming episodes will make fun of Errol Morris, Michael Moore, and other luminaries of the genre. It's clear that these guys are true documentary aficionados.

Bonus clip: Here's the late great David Carr owning some fedora dudebro from VICE after they shit on the New York Times while defending VICE's clickbait-calibrated journalistic tourism. "Just because you put on a fuckin' safari helmet and looked at some poop, doesn't give you the right to insult what we do."
