LA water hog exposed as "Wet Prince of Bel-Air"

Who is the top residential water hog of Los Angeles? The Center for Investigative Reporting has narrowed it down to 7 Bel-Air mansions, with billionaire Jerry Perenchio's estate the prime suspect for using almost 12 million gallons of water a year.

City utility officials have refused to do a name and shame, so CIR's Michael Corey and Lance Williams did some laborious high-tech sleuthing. Perenchio, founder of Univision and a presenter of Blade Runner, owns Kirkeby Mansion, aka The Beverly Hillbillies Mansion because it served as the exteriors for the show.

Here's a great tongue-in-cheek helicopter report about the property from back when Jed Clampett owned it.
