RIP, science fiction author MK Wren

MK Wren was the pen-name of Martha Kay Renfroe, whose novels we featured in 2014. Martha died at age 78 last August, but I've only just found out. She was 78.

A memorial is planned for her this Sunday at Bob's Beach Books in her hometown of Lincoln City, Oregon. Our sincere condolences to her friends and family.

M.K. Wren: Longtime Oregon author M.K. Wren, whose real name was Martha Kay Renfroe, died Aug. 20 at age 78. The former Lincoln City resident was best known for her Conan Flagg mystery series and her 1990 dystopian novel "A Gift Upon the Shore," set on the Oregon coast following a nuclear war. Wren frequented Bob's Beach Books in Lincoln City; the store's manager, Diana Portwood, said a gathering in Wren's memory is planned for 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the store, 1747 N.W. Highway 101.
